By rich-doping Ti in our CNTs using our CVD method, we have successfully synthesized TiC nanofibers from CNTs. The yield TiC nanofibers have almost the same shapes in macro scale and also micro scale as the original CNT material.
After burning TiC nanofibers in air, TiO2 nanofibers will be yield, which have also the same shapes of primary particles and their aggregations as the TiC nanofibers and to the original CNTs.
From XRD analysis of such TiO2 nanofibers, we found that both of rutile-type and anatase-type crystalline structures are included. Because of the higher specific surface area of TiO2 nanofibers, higher photocatalytic effect will be expected.
